Found covering an old well in a garden on Top Road. It is the only remains of the school. The text reads WESLEYAN DAY SCHOOL OPENED 1853 ERECTED BY VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTION WITH AID FROM THE PARLIAMENTARY GRANTS

Courtesy Of Jimmy Francis The date of 1940 may have been superimposed because Jimmy's mother Pearl ( nee Pollard) front row second right and his father James Francis middle row third from left were both born early in 1921 (February & March) so at 19 years old would too old to still be at school. There were many children from Thringstone in the 1930/40's who would walk to the School at Griffydam, and this is where Jimmy's mum and dad first met as school friends.

Local School Teacher for 50 years. At her retirement ceremony in 1971, former Head Teacher Mrs Kitty Brown, who worked with Florence for many years spoke of her loyalty and lifetime devotion to teaching. Many former pupils remember her with affection
